When you research a new hull, there are a couple things you should be doing at the same time. The first and foremost should be to upgrade your docks. Otherwise when you actually get your new ships, you might be surprised to find that your lovely new fleet can’t have more then Gun Boats as it’s mates in other ships. Of course this can surprise and shock your enemies, but a Leviathan with 4 Gun Boats won’t be able to do much other then look good. A Dock and Hull Research should take about the same time, so it’s a good thing to do while waiting on the research to be completed.Next you should also be gathering more resources. This is where we really want to maximize out those warehouses. This will allow for you to be ready to build that ship, once it becomes ready. For example me, I have roughly 9 million of each resource sitting in my warehouses right now, waiting for the next day to pop around, so I can start building a Sea Wolf. It’s a good idea to leave your other fleets outside, guarding your base, but also holding onto needed resources. For example I have mine all loaded with the resources I need, even though my warehouses are capped out. Once I use the resources, I will be able enter the base, and instantly resupply with some additional resources.
The last thing you will want to do, it be upgrading your weapons. You won’t be able to upgrade your armor while researching a new hull but you will be able to get better weapons. This will also allow you to mount better guns on the ships you will be building, when the research is complete. I rated this last, because you might already be maxed out, or know what you want weapon wise.
